Grow Avocado Trees!

We have been eating a stupid amount of avocados lately. For some reason Tim has been keeping the seeds. So a little google search later and we learned if you set up the seed like this with a mason jar and some tooth picks, keep it 3/4 submerged in water and put it in a dark place you'll end up with this! Every so often we added a bit of water to them, but they mostly just sat in our pantry forgotten about. We have a few others that are just sprouting but this guy took right off!

I saw another way where you peel the brown outside and set them 3/4 of the way in some potting soil and they do the same thing! We have about 15 more seeds sitting in an empty pot. I promise I'm getting some potting soil and giving it a try. I'll get back to you soon with the results!

(It also said that IF you get fruit it is like 7 years and that is only if you have a male and female plant - so I understand I won't be munching on my own home grown avocados any time soon, but growing things is really fun and Ella is loving watching it grow! We now have it in our window. I need to figure out what to do with it now. )
