Bop update

I've had a few messages asking how the weaning process is going so I wanted to give a quick update!

I have banned the bop during the night. Some nights this goes well, others not so much. She has started this thing where she sits up and yells at me to "Stop!" but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong! If I don't hold her she yells at me, if I touch her she yells at me. She hits at the bop and I can tell she's trying to get to the bop. I started saying, "okay, if your going to be mean you have to go back to your room!" she then says, "hold me mama!" And we go back to sleep. Some nights, while she still wakes up often, she doesn't even ask anymore. I see this as progress.

This past week our friends daughter got sick with a stomach virus AND a cold. Anna has spent a lot of time with her. Anna was feverish and over all grumpy as she normally does when she gets sick. So I have started allowing her bop before nap and before bedtime. This works for me. The only time I seem to struggle is evenings when I get home from work. She hasn't seen me in 12 hours so she starts asking for bop incessantly. I keep trying to reason with her and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but I'll talk her through it and try to distract her.

So that's my update. Not exciting. Lots more whining then we ever had before. It was so easy to just give her bop when she was extra whiney. Now I have to help her get past her crazy toddler bipolar emotions without the bop.

I will say seeing her shake her head up and down and giggle when I ask if she's ready for bop is priceless. So stinkin sweet!

  1. Allie's been waking up and she won't let me lay in bed with her, but I have to lay my head like a dog on her bed, but then I have to hold her, then we have to go to the guest room. Pretty sure it's because she's not feeling well.

I'm glad you're working out what works for you. Hang in there!
